Tea light candle holder

On every festival I try to do some craft activity with my kids that is related to the festival. Last year Diwali we had picked up lots of paper tissues of different patterns.

When I saw the patterns I wanted to make some Diwali craft out of it. So we created these neat looking paper lanterns to keep tea light inside.

This is how they look with tea light inside.

Material used are mountboard to make frame, paper tape to stick the frame together so that it is fold-able. And most important part is printed soft paper tissues.

For frames we used four 6" by 6" mountboard pieces. Leaving a margin of 1 inch from all side I cut a 5 " square from it.

These 5 " pieces were used to make frame for next lantern. Again we left a margin of 1" to cut a 4 " square piece from center.

This was used to make frame for the smallest lantern.

If we use paper tap to join the frame pieces, the lanterns  can be folded after use and stored for next use with out causing any damage.

Here is how these looks when folded.

Try making these with your kids and do let me know your views.
